Description
Muhammara is a nutty dip originating from around Syria, Armenia and Turkey and served as part of a mezze meal. This is a really nice version Rina got from her friend Jenny Bloom.
Ingredients
- 1 cup walnuts
- 3 large roasted red peppers from a jar
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons pul biber (Turkish mild red pepper paste)
- 2 teaspoons, or more if that tastes better to you
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons pomegranate molasses
- Salt to taste
Instructions
Preheat oven to 180, Gas mark 4 and toast walnuts for 8 minutes, tossing after 4 minutes. Save a few to chop for garnish.
Cut the peppers into 3 pieces each and put in a food processor with the breadcrumbs, pul biber, oil, lemon juice, paprika, walnuts and 2 tablespoons of pomegranate molasses. Pulse until mostly smooth, then add salt to taste. Put in a bowl, drizzle with a bit more molasses and top with the reserve walnuts.
